Randomization Permissions: “Can randomize” and “View randomization arm”

Modified on Thu, 7 Aug at 8:52 PM

EasyMedStat introduces two specific permissions for randomized studies. These permissions are independent and can be combined or assigned separately depending on the role of each collaborator.

Can randomize

This permission allows a user to randomize patients from the eCRF.

With this permission, the user can:

  • See the “Randomize” button on the patient form
  • Trigger the randomization once all required stratification variables are filled
  • Assign a patient to a treatment group, according to the predefined protocol

However, the user cannot:

  • See which treatment group the patient was assigned to, unless they also have the “View randomization arm” permission
  • Access any details about the randomization table or logic used

This setup is ideal for maintaining blinding in roles such as investigators or site staff.

View randomization arm

This permission allows a user to see the assigned treatment group for each patient they have access to.

With this permission, the user can:

  • View the group assignment directly in the eCRF
  • Include the randomization group in data exports and reports
  • Monitor allocation balance across centers or strata (if applicable)

However, the user cannot:

  • Randomize new patients, unless they also have the “Can randomize” permission
  • Modify or influence the allocation process

This permission is generally assigned to roles such as data managers, statisticians, or study monitors.
