Definition

The Wilcoxon's Signed Rank test is a non-parametric test comparing the distribution of two paired samples.

It is an alternative to the Paired Student t-test when the variables are not assumed to be normally distributed.

In practice

The Wilcoxon's Signed Rank test is usually used when one wants to compare paired data of numeric variables: as before and after treatment or comparison between paired groups as treated-control groups.
